Museum „ora et labora“

During the renovation of the former domestic wing in the years 2004-2008, the old walls were left largely in their original state and a second, contemporary level was built.
The structural changes from the late 13th century until today are thus clearly visible, offering visitors a fascinating contrast of old and new.

The “Ora et labora” museum, opened in 2007, is located on the ground floor. Films and a wide variety of objects give an insight into everyday life behind the monastery walls. Regularly changing exhibitions with items from the monastery collection recount interesting and often curious stories.
The museum also provides information about monastic life according to the Rule of St. Benedict, the daily life of the monks today and their activities over the centuries. The film about the Romanesque representations of angels in the crypt, which can be viewed at specific times, is particularly impressive.
