“Benedikt from Nursia” just wanted one thing: truly look for God, in a brotherly community, according to a sound way of life. The monastery should be a place of prayer and of work. ORA ET LABORA.

Pastoral care and education are the most important working areas of the monks.

In personal talks and through prayers people are supported in questions of life and faith in the monastery and in the incorporated parishes. Presently two of the formerly four parishes, namely Burgeis and Schlinig, are taken care of by the monks. After a long tradition in the field of formal education the Marienberg monks are now trying to fulfil the tasks of the modern church in the religious adult education.

Furthermore the monastery is a place of quiet and strength. Dwelling in this venerable place lets you feel and experience the peace and quiet of the place and gain new strengths for everyday life.

Presently the monastery has 14 members.
